A team from SKA won trophies in four out of the five events at the Harmony Games on 4 August 2018 and, in the process, emerged champions of the event.
Comprising members from the netball, football and hockey teams, the 10-member SKA team won the Bubble Soccer and Archery Tag tournament, and finished first runners-up in the Dodgeball and Nerf War events. The fifth event was the Captain’s Ball.
The Harmony Games is an annual event to support religious cohesion in Singapore by fostering friendships and familiarity among individuals through sports and games. This year, the event was graced by Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Culture, Community & Youth, and was held at the Maha Bodhi School. It was organised by a committee made up of representatives from the Buddhist, Bahai and Zoroastrian faiths.
Apart from the five games, the SKA team also participated in a Human Bingo session with the elderly. In addition to winning four trophies, the team won $1,000 worth of CapitaLand vouchers.
A total of 250 participants from various schools and organisations took part in the games.
During the event, the SKA team interacted with individuals from other religious groups and were honoured to be given the opportunity to represent the Singapore Sikh community.
The SKA Management Committee has received complimentary feedback from the various attendees to the event. It is indeed proud of the team’s achievements.
