Sengkang pitch 2
Score: 1-9
Scorers: Russell Yap (4), Sean See (2), Geneth Kumar, Gurjant Singh, Melvinder Singh

Match Report:
Khalsa men continued with indomitable spirit after their most impressive weekend showing so far in the league. Under the scorching sun our men came away with another comprehensive win; shining brighter than the sun, showing the league they are a force to be recon with. Unable to take the pressure from our forwards, RP defense fell apart early into the game. As such it saw Khalsa racking up the goals one after another. But a mis guided ball from midfield to defense saw RP capitalizing on the chance and scored their only goal of the game. Five goals in eight minutes saw us comfortably going in half time with a 1-6 score line. Our team’s top scorer Russell got his hat-trick in no time. Sean and Melvinder joined in the party as well with a penalty corner converted into the keeper’s bottom left and a squeeze shot at the top of the D thru the keeper’s legs respectively. Our men didn’t rest on their comfortable lead and continued to press RP till the final whistle. But our luck came up short in the second half managing just three goals. A rebound goal from vice-captain Kumar, another shot another goal for Russell and a perfect drag flick to the keeper’s top right corner from Sean saw Khalsa running away with a 1-9 win. Another incredible outing from our goal hungry beasts who scored 17 goals just this weekend. And with a 9-point gap at the top, is the title ours to lose?

Khalsa take on tornados on 25 Aug at 1930. Will our men continue their roaring form?

22 JULY 2018
SKA vs Orient
Sengkang pitch 2
Score: 6-1
SCORERS: RUSSELL YAP (2), BELVINDERJIT SINGH (2), SEAN SEE & HAREK SINGH

Match Report:
Khalsa went into the fourth game of the season with a lot of confidence, as the men put up another outstanding performance against an experienced and organized Orient. Khalsa had the perfect start to the match with a penalty corner in the first minute. A well worked penalty corner saw Sean See’s drag flick at the back of the goal. Plenty of opportunities flew pass Khalsa’s way which saw us only leading 1-0 the end of the 1st quarter. The same thing happened throughout the 2nd quarter which was slightly frustrating until quick succession of goals in the last 5 minutes from both Khalsa and Orient saw our men going into half-time with a 3-1 lead with both our goals coming from our leading goal scorer Russell. A quick counter from defense saw Khalsa extending the lead with Harek singh slotting a loose ball into an open goal. With a comfortable lead in hand, our men made Orient work hard for the possession of the ball. As Orient grew tired as the game went into it’s last few minutes Khalsa started to turn on their engine again. With speed and an eye for open space saw our midfield pumping quality and inch perfect passes to belvinder; who made no mistake in front of goal. Thus, he got another 2 goals under his belt from the game. Another exhilarating performance from Khalsa saw them coming away as 6-1 winners. With this win Khalsa will enter a two week break at the top of league 5.

SKA vs SRC
Sengkang pitch 2
Score: 5-0
Scorers: Russell Yap (2), Belvinderjit Singh, Geneth Kumar & Nilesh

Match Report:
A win against Barkerites yesterday saw a focused Khalsa team ahead of their clash against SRC under the floodlights. A good warm-up before the match made them well prepared. Most of our talented young players turned up for the match making it an interesting encounter as SRC fielded a rather young side. Push off. Before SRC could even figure out what hit them, our men put in four in the first 20 mins. Goals from Russell, Belvinder, Nilesh and V-captain Kumar saw Khalsa walking into half time with a comfortable lead. Without getting overly excited Khalsa kept their structure and communicated well to maintain the score line. SRC started the 2nd half very well and were hungry for goals. But a resilient Jonathan Crossland in defense made it difficult for SRC. With some outstanding defending from Crossland saw SRC’s build-up plays getting broken down very frequently thus making it a very quiet night for Khalsa goalkeeper Shanjais. The patience of Khalsa men paid off when a brilliant solo effort from Russell saw him beating five SRC players before slotting the ball home with a tomahawk shot squeezing past the keepers near post. Russell’s marvelous effort saw Khalsa extending their lead to 5-0. Another win for Khalsa and another clean sheet under Shanjais belt. Three brilliant games played and three wins for our men, with an average of five goals per game Khalsa has been scoring goals for fun and proving to be a force to be reckon with.

Next week Khalsa takes on Orient at 1930 in Sengkang hockey stadium pitch 2. Can the sizzling goal rush and winning display continue?
